Eucharistic Adoration: A Vision of Lights
|
A young man bowed his head in prayer in the middle of the night before the Blessed
Sacrament in Our Lady’s Chapel of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration. He felt himself
lifted up in prayer both physically and spiritually. He passed through both the ceiling and
the roof. From the height of the church steeple adjoining the church he looked into the
little chapel below. It appeared to be transparent. He could make out a lone figure knelt
in prayer before the Eucharist in the Monstrance. The chapel was emitting a soft glowing
light.
He felt himself lifted further up into the cool night sky. The darkness around him was
endless. His only comfort was the soft glow coming from the chapel below. As he was
lifted further up other lights began to appear. Everyone of the lights had the same steady
constant glow. He continued to be lifted up. The number of lights began to grow.
Hundreds. Thousands. Hundreds of thousands. They lights continued to increase in
number. He stopped. The view of the lights was spectacular.
He remembered being on his grandparents farm as a boy. He and his dad would walk to
a remote hill on the farm during the warm summer nights. He and his dad would lay a
blanket on the dew wet grass and count stars. After losing track the third or fourth time
his dad would tell him that each star is a prayer offered up to God. God hung all the
prayers he received in the sky for all to see. His dad told him it was like when he hung one
of the boys papers on the refrigerator for all to see.
Why was he thinking of his dad who had passed away three years ago? Where was his
dad now? He began to fall. The fall was more rapid than the ascent. The thousands of
lights were rushing towards him. Were they prayers hung up in the sky by God? The
lights rushed upon him faster and faster. He recognized the distant glow of the Adoration
Chapel. Was it his prayer that was glowing? Were all these lights people praying? Or
were they the glow of the Most Blessed Sacrament in all the tabernacles of the world?
He reentered the chapel quickly. He could see a sole figure knelt in prayer facing him.
He was flanked by magnificent winged creatures. They were angels. They seemed to be
taking something from the lone figure knelt in prayer and placing it before him.
The figure looked up and peered deeply into his eyes. The figure was extremely
grotesque yet at the same time exceedingly beautiful. The kneeling figure stared hard at
him without blinking. The angels continued to transfer something from the figure and
place it before him. The grotesque figure appeared to have deep scars from a battle or
maybe a disease. Yet it glowed with an indescribable light. The figure continued to stare.
The angels continued their work. He realized instantly the grotesque and beautiful figure
was himself. He was looking at himself though the eyes of Christ in the Eucharist. The
angels stopped and knelt in prayer. The young man wept and then continued praying.
